After an incredibly frustrating season of Project Runway, Michelle Lesniak Franklin was rightfully named the winner!

I had Michelle’s back since the beginning of the season (along with a few others )in what I thought to be an unusually talented group of designers. This year I felt like there were a lot of designers that had very strong points of view, and Michelle was no exception showing garments that were casual and cool week after week.

She rocked the finally show with a cohesive, thoughtful inspiration inspired by her metaphor for her journey on the show, “a lone wolf on the hunt for its last kill”, fitting since In the first weeks of Project Runway teams she always found herself in the bottom due to lackluster teammates.

And speaking of lackluster….. What the hell Heidi! Thank God for Nina’s voice of reason because Patricia had Heidi completely smitten over her shapeless ponchos and caftans… Heidi pulled her through week after week because of her textiles.. Patricia, your an amazing textile designer, but you really don’t know anything about designing clothing for modern women!

This season should have ended with final four of: Michelle (obv)

Stanley (fellow finalist who was way under prepared for his fashion week debut- such a disappointment when he had such a great collection), Samantha (kicked off way to early because Heidi wanted to save Patricia) and either Layana ( a 28 year old Fit Grad – I realize I might have a bias opinion- who still needs a little time to find her voice but was pretty consistently good through the season) or Daniel (an older gentlemen who had a voice, but needed some help with making his things more modern- I really thought he found himself in Berlin and came back with a great collection for fashion week, but alas Patricia prevails yet again!

When we remodeled our kitchen 2 years ago, we stretched our budget to allow us to put in a solid surface countertop, we used Corian, which made a backsplash impossible right away.

It allowed me to spend some time researching, and making a confident decision on what to use. Inspired by this spread, my final decision to go for marble subway tile.

While we still have some work to do (under cabinet trim so we can add under cabinet lighting), its looking so much more finished.

Now I just have to decide if I want to put air plants in the window, or hang a vintage window with leaded glass that I repinned here…  What is your vote?
